Patisserie Heaven
One of my favorite restaurants is Aviary Café & Creperie in Springfield, MO. I was busting with anticipation to visit their new patisserie located in the new venue at the Farmer's Market. Aviary did NOT disappoint with a delectable selection of real French pastries. I indulged in a Chocolate Almond Croissant and cappuccino, and carried away a box of goodies for later. *Applause*

Big Top Birthday
In honor of my nephew's birthday today, I want to share pictures from his first birthday...Big Top Style!
My sis-in-law had a fun time creating the circus-theme birthday. The dining room table served as the tablescape with a lollipop topiary, framed picture of the birthday boy in his ringmaster costume (which he wore for the party, too), a circus tent cake and small smash cake all baked by Mommy. Snacks were provided such as popcorn in brown paper sacks. I suggested a roll of tickets to use as a prop.
In staying with the theme, I bought this cute monkey. I outfitted him with a circus one-year-old bib from Hallmark, made a party hat out of scrapbook paper and tied a ribbon around his neck. Also, I found the box of Animal Crackers at Hobby Lobby and a small pinwheel for fun. Luckily, I already had the perfect giftbag. If you look closely you will see I addressed the card: "For The Ringmaster!"

Literary Travels
As you will soon realize, I adore surrounding myself in books whether it be a library or bookstore. Searching for a new read is a true treasure hunt for me! My recent library check-outs have me traveling across Europe with Francis Mayes, A Year in the World and Frommer's Paris 2012. If you can't seem to find the time or money to visit your dream location, find a book that represents your desired city or country.

Homemade Valentine
I made this Valentine for my nephew by printing a vibrant photo (used Picasa3) and tacking the 4 corners onto a scrapbook paper background. I embellished with a couple of heart stickers I had on hand. Notice the tab sticking out on the left?
Because I only tacked the 4 corners, I was able to slide a secret message between the picture and the back paper. I glued a small pull tab on top so he could see there was something inside.
I personalized the back with a sweet message. This made a unique and fun Valentine for Sweet Boy!
